Notary Public Services in Ontario

Nobari Law Professional Corporation provides professional and convenient notary public and commissioner services for individuals and businesses in Ontario.

Notary and commissioner services may be required for affidavits, statutory declarations, certified true copies, travel consent letters, authorizations, vehicle-transfer documents, and other personal, business, legal, or international documents.

Depending on the document and its intended use, services may include:

The services available will depend on the document, the intended recipient’s requirements, and the circumstances of the appointment.

An affidavit is a written statement that a person confirms to be true by swearing an oath or making an affirmation.

A statutory declaration is a formal written statement that a person solemnly declares to be true.

The person signing must appear before the notary or commissioner, provide satisfactory identification, confirm the truth of the statement, and sign as directed.

A certified true copy is a copy that a notary public has compared with an original document and certified as a true copy of that original.

Documents commonly presented for certification may include passports, identification documents, birth or marriage certificates, diplomas, transcripts, corporate documents, court documents, immigration documents, and other personal or business records.

The original document must be presented for examination. Whether a certified copy will be accepted is determined by the organization or authority receiving it.

Where a signature must be witnessed or notarized, the document should generally be left unsigned and undated until the appointment.

The signer must personally appear before the notary, provide satisfactory identification, confirm they are signing voluntarily, and sign as directed.

Notarization confirms the notarial act performed. It does not necessarily confirm that the document is legally appropriate, that its contents are accurate, or that it will be accepted by the intended recipient.

A child travel consent letter is recommended when a child travels outside Canada without one or both parents or persons with decision-making responsibility.

The letter may include information about the child, the accompanying adult, the parent or guardian providing consent, the destination, travel dates, accommodations, and contact information.

Clients should confirm the requirements of the airline, destination country, border authority, or other recipient before the letter is completed.

Documents intended for use outside Canada may require an apostille or another authentication or legalization process, depending on the destination country, the type of document, and the requirements of the receiving organization. Translation or certification by the issuing authority may also be required.

Notarization by Nobari Law does not itself obtain an apostille or complete any additional authentication or legalization process unless that service is separately agreed.

Clients should confirm the requirements of the relevant embassy, consulate, government authority, or final recipient before attending the appointment.

Notarization does not guarantee that a foreign government, institution, or other recipient will accept the document.

Please bring:

• The complete document requiring notarization or commissioning
• Valid, current government-issued identification
• Any additional identification requested
• The original document, where a certified true copy is required
• All schedules, exhibits, attachments, and supporting documents
• Instructions received from the intended recipient
• Any required translation

Documents should be completed before the appointment except for any signatures, dates, or information that must be completed in the notary’s presence.

Documents containing unexplained blank spaces, missing pages, incomplete information, or missing attachments may not be suitable for notarization.

Do not send original documents, identification, complete account numbers, passwords, or other sensitive information unless requested by Nobari Law Professional Corporation. If requested, please use the document-sending method confirmed by the firm.

This Ontario government form is used when an eligible family member gives a used motor vehicle to another eligible family member and the recipient is claiming an exemption from Ontario Retail Sales Tax.

The completed statement must be sworn or affirmed before a commissioner for taking affidavits and submitted to ServiceOntario with the other required vehicle-transfer documents.
